Christian Zacharias

Christian Zacharias ranks among the greatest contemporary pianists. He performed on the occasion of Bechstein’s 125th anniversary as early as 1978, and premiered the novel C. Bechstein D 282 concert grand piano when it was launched in 2014. His long international career is marked by a series of highly acclaimed recitals, award-winning recordings, and concerts with the world greatest ensembles and conductors. His wish to develop long-lasting relationships with like-minded musicians prompted him to conduct various formations.  International music critics praised several of the numerous discs he recorded together with Lausanne’s Chamber Orchestra when he directed the ensemble. A world-famous interpret of Scarlatti, Mozart and Schubert, Zacharias mainly records under the EMI and MDG labels.

During a tour with the bass player Alois Posch and Leipzig’s String Quartet, Zacharias premiered the novel C. Bechstein D 282 concert grand piano in Berlin’s Philharmonic Hall — with Schubert’s Trout Quintet, of course.
